Y'abal's intensive summer Dutch language programme is now open for enrolment. This 8-week course is designed for adults who want to rapidly improve their Dutch proficiency for employment and daily life. Classes run from July to September 2024 at our Hasselt community centre. Spaces are limited — contact us to reserve your place.
Y'abal is pleased to announce a new partnership initiative with 15 employers across the Limburg region. This collaboration will create guaranteed interview opportunities for graduates of our vocational training programme and provide workplace mentoring for disadvantaged job seekers. The programme launches in September 2024.
Join us for Y'abal's annual community cultural festival on June 20th at the Hasselt Market Square. The event features food from over 20 cultures, live performances, children's activities, and information about Y'abal's programmes. Free entry for all residents — everyone is welcome!
We're proud to announce that our 50th micro-enterprise has been successfully launched this year through Y'abal's Economic Empowerment programme. From catering services to cleaning companies to artisan workshops, these small businesses are creating jobs and economic opportunity in disadvantaged communities across Limburg.
Y'abal has been awarded the 2024 Limburg Social Innovation Award for our outstanding contribution to social integration in the province. The award recognises our holistic approach to supporting disadvantaged communities through education, economic empowerment, and community development.
Sarah has been volunteering with Y'abal for over three years, helping teach Dutch language classes to newcomers. "Seeing my students gain confidence and start using Dutch in their daily lives is incredibly rewarding," she says. "Y'abal gives me the training and support I need to make a real difference."
Due to high demand, Y'abal's Digital Literacy Programme is expanding to a second location in Genk. Free workshops covering basic computer skills, internet navigation, online banking, and digital job searching will now be available in both Hasselt and Genk, making them accessible to more residents across the Limburg region.
Thank you to everyone who contributed to our Spring Fundraising Campaign! Together, we raised €18,000 — exceeding our target by 20%. These funds will directly support 120 individuals through our education and economic empowerment programmes in the coming months.
